Our First Maronite Church.


Kerk St. Johannesburg.

A Church was purchased by Fr. Joseph Ashkar in 1910 in Commissioner Street and
later moved to the corner of Diagonal & Kerk Street, Johannesburg as pictured here. Fr Ashkar
was assisted by Fr. Wasim Estaphan for a short while before Fr. Estaphan returned to Lebanon.

Opened in 1991, the church serves the northern region of Johannesburg.
Centrally situated this church is the administrative head office of the
Maronite Catholic Mission. Activities carried out at the Mission include:
Daily Weekday Masses; Five Weekend Masses; Perpetual Adoration; Rosary,
Praise and Worship & Youth Prayer Groups; Catechism, Marriage Preparation;
Baptism Preparation; our Parish Council & Committee meetings; Cultural
and fund raising activities are held the Liban Conference & Banqueting Centre.

 
Our Lady of Lebanon, Mulbarton



Opened in 2003 the Mission has fulfilled the need for a church in the area.
Serving the community in the south of Johannesburg, it has grown from strength
to strength in the first year of its opening. Activities carried out at the
Mission include: Daily Weekday Masses; currently five Weekend Masses; Rosary,
Prayer Groups; Catechism, Baptism Preparation, Parish Council and Committee
meetings; Cultural and fund raising activities.
